My challenge:

I decided to use WordPress to create a blog for the Guidance Department.

Communication is so important and I when I started I wanted to change the way the Guidance Department communicates (online) with the community.

Personal reflection on the process of developing the challenge, learning and implementing the new technology:

I really liked mk's Library site and found that by talking with her I was able to dive right in to my project because I almost instantaneously found myself the proud author of a blog on WordPress... thank you, mk! I still have work to do, but enjoy working when I have the time. Winnie was incredibly helpful as well; she looked over the blog (as a parent and as a technology coordinator) and the subtle changes she made/suggested have made a big difference.

I often encourage students to push their limits. The creation of this blog means more effective communication with students and families... this has been on my to-do-list for some time and I was grateful for the opportunity to push myself. I can manage basic technology, but I would never consider myself someone who is very good at it. I enjoyed the fact that WordPress is pretty user-friendly and I am thankful that I had two experts willing to help. I am excited to launch this for the next academic year.

Impact on student learning:

Hopefully students and families will access the blog and find answers they need and as well as interesting Gudiance-related information.
